If you are looking for a native plant that creates habitat, food for both birds and butterflies and native pollinators Coralberry is an excellent addition. In the Honeysuckle family this bush will create thickets spreading by rooting nodes that find their way to the ground. Blooms between May-July and produces beautiful berries in the fall. Growing to the height of 4-5 feet.

Host plant for;

Snowberry Clearwing (Hemaris diffiris)

Hummingbird Clearwing (Hemaris thysbe)

Sulfur Moth (Hesperumia sulphuraria)

Zones 4-8

*Berries are mildly toxic to humans. Contain a saponin which can cause nausea and vomiting in large quantities in smaller persons.
