Native perennial found growing in fields and prairies and woodland edges in moist conditions. Will tolerate well drained soils that are frequently watered. Growing to the height of 4-5 feet with violet blue tubular flowers in multiple spikes. Full sun to part shade. Flowers between July-September. A staple food source for songbirds.
